Try or Do..

In my experience..

Try has been such a simple, meaningless little word that often brings a feeling of good natured support from a friend or family member.

"You've got to try.."

"It was a nice try.."
"Try your best.."
"The important thing is that you tried.."

While all of these statements come from love and support, a place of true good intention..  I believe that subconsciously this practice leads to a limitation of our capabilities as humans.

Reasons for saying so..?  Think about a person who continually hears, "nice try" because they failed to accomplish that which they were attempting to do. It becomes easy for that person to concentrate on simply trying to say for example run faster to win a race.  In comparison, someone who does, simply focuses on the process of running faster to win the race.  Let me explain further.

Tryer: "I need to run faster so I can win this race."  "Run faster.." Run faster!"

Doer: "I need to run faster in order to win this race." "Ok, drive the knees at a high angle with more force produced from the hips."  "drive the arms with more distance and force produced from the scapulas."

Result:  The tryer agonized over "trying to run faster" and struggled through the race by merely trying harder and trying to force more speed.  While the doer, increased his speed, progressed instead of struggled and won the race as the result of his process, his understanding.

The point of today's blog is this : You can try or you can DO, you cannot do both..  Focus on understanding the process that will get you the results that you desire and giving your attention only to this process once it's understood.

There is little need for "try" in our vocabulary, please join me in extinguishing it.  Together we can DO a lot more!

Until your eyes meet my typeset again.
